Solihull MP is bowled over as clubs re-open for indoor sport

MONDAY was a red letter day for clubs, groups and organisations across the country as the easing of lockdown restrictions allowed for indoor gatherings.

Joining members of Solihull Indoor Bowls Club on the auspicious day was local MP Julian Knight who chatted to members and had a go himself.

“I last visited Solihull Indoor Bowls Club in 2017 when it hosted a match between England and Wales Schools, so it was great to be back and mark the day at such a lovely club with great links in the local community,” he said.

As well as bowling the first jack and first ball Mr Knight also held a series of impromptu surgeries with members.

Club spokeswoman Gill Pawlowski said: “It was really good to get Julian down and having a go at bowling.

“We had about 40 members down and were kept busy from about 8am to 3pm, so it was quite a day.”

Solihull Indoor Bowls Club is located on Brick Kiln Lane and offers a ‘roll up’ service on Wednesdays and Fridays when players can just roll up for a game.
