Solihull Moors seek planning approval for floodlights upgrade ahead of potential promotion

SOLIHULL Moors Football Club want to upgrade the floodlighting system ahead of possible promotion next season.

Plans have been handed to Solihull Council to install 41 2kW HID floodlights on the existing seven lighting masts around the perimeter of the Damson Park stadium.

It would increase the lighting level of the pitch to the required amount needed if boss Tim Flowers’ non-league team get promoted to Football League’s fourth and bottom tier, League Two, next season, according to planning documents.

Abacus Lighting, which has been working with the club, says in the application: “The impact on residents will be minimised as overspill values into gardens will be no more than moonlight and vertical illuminance into windows before curfew are below the values recommended by the ILP (Institution Of Lighting Professionals).

“Daytime visual impact will also be minimised by using slim line masts and light grey floodlights which do not stand out against the skyline.”

Solihull Moors are three points off the top spot of the Conference Premier table and currently sit in third place.
