Solihull Moors FC teams up with mental health consortium

SOLIHULL Moors Football Club has joined forces with a mental health charity consortium with a bid to empower everyone from fans to the first team.

Living Well UK has teamed up with the women’s team to develop and trial innovative well-being solutions, focusing on how physical and mental health can boost one another.

The duo hope that this pilot programme will not only transform the world of sport but will also create new and effective treatment opportunities for the general public too.

After the success of the previous partnership between Living Well UK and Solihull Moors FC last season, the charity is looking forward to growing this further.

Aiming to empower everyone – from the fans to the women’s first team – to prioritise their mental health, both are hopeful that the relationship will have a powerful impact on all involved on and off the pitch.

Starting with the team itself, the mental health experts at Living Well UK will be running training sessions with the women’s firsts, focusing on combatting negative thought patterns and building resilience.

Becci Fox chief executive of the Solihull Moors Foundation, said: “Mental health and wellbeing sit at the heart of all that the club stands for, so we are over the moon to be welcoming Living Well UK on board as sponsors again this year.

“The sporting industry can be a high-pressure one and isn’t always known for being the most open when it comes to talking about emotional wellbeing – we hope that Moors can help to change that and show that there’s no shame in getting your head in the game.”

Living Well UK provides free mental health support to people living in Solihull, promoting wellbeing from an individual and community perspective to help find practical solutions to life’s challenges.

Ben Howells, chief executive of Living Well UK, said: “It’s fantastic to be building on our work with Solihull Moors FC to develop a programme that I truly feel will change the game for mental health services.

“The work we’ve planned is the first of its kind in the UK and we are thrilled to be collaborating with them to bring this project to life.

“The sensational summer win from the Lionesses only proved further that the women’s game is one to watch, so to be able to do this with the Solihull Moors FC Women’s team only makes it more exciting for us.”
