Solihull Moors fans travelling to Wembley by train advised to plan ahead

SOLIHULL Moors fans are heading to Wembley Stadium for the National League Play-Off Final and FA Cup Trophy Final are being urged to check before they travel.

The Moors are set to face Bromley on Sunday (May 5) as the teams go head to head in the National League Promotion Final.

Fans travelling to the game have been advised that Chiltern Railways will be running two trains per hour from Birmingham Moor Street and Solihull to Wembley Stadium.

The rail company said: “Due to engineering works on the route from Birmingham to London Euston, Chiltern Railways is the only option for direct services between Birmingham and London.

“This means that while trains have been lengthened where possible, services are expected to be very busy, and customers may not be able to board their preferred train.

“Queuing systems will be in place at Birmingham Moor Street and Solihull before the game, and Wembley Stadium after the game.”

Customers not attending the football are advised that a quieter time to travel between the West Midlands and London will be in the middle of the day while the event is ongoing.

For the Moors next trip to the capital, on May 11 where they face Gateshead FC in the FA Cup Trophy Final Chiltern Railways has announced there will be no trains calling at Wembley Stadium station.

ASLEF union workers will be out on strike and a significantly reduced timetable will be operating between Birmingham, Solihull, and London Marylebone.

A spokesperson for the rail company said: “Customers may not be able to board their preferred train, as queuing systems will be in place at Birmingham Moor Street and Solihull before the game.

“Alternative services are available from Birmingham New Street or Birmingham International with Avanti West Coast and London Northwestern, for onward connections to Wembley Stadium via the London Underground network.”

Passengers are being urged to check before they travel here.
