Solihull mayor opens new physiotherapy clinic

Solihull Editorial 17th Oct, 2022   0

SOLIHULL Mayor Coun Ken Meeson has officially opened Urban Body’s new physiotherapy clinic on the Warwick Road in Olton.

Famous names from the world of sport including Olympic Bobsleigh medalist Joel Fearon and former Aston Villa player Garry Thompson attended the opening party, along with top running coach Arj Thiruchelvam.

Urban Body was previously based at the West Warwickshire Sports Club but recently moved to 179-183 Warwick Road after converting the premises, which used to be a plumbers’ merchant.

The physiotherapy business was founded five years ago by Phil Evans, who trained at Loughborough University and has treated England Cricketers, Team GB athletes and England Rugby players.

Urban Body’s lead physiotherapist, Phil Evans, said: “We urgently needed a new premises because the business is growing very quickly, particularly since the beginning of the pandemic and we are still recruiting.

“Many patients come to us because of the long NHS waiting lists resulting in relatively minor problems with knees, backs and shoulders getting worse and unfortunately we are seeing the ramifications of this.

“Our ethos is to diagnose and solve the root of the problem, because painkillers provide a window of opportunity to improve mobility rather than a long term solution.

“It was fantastic to celebrate the opening of our new clinic with so many people who have been with us on our journey.”
