A SOLIHULL man has spoken of the terrifying moment his car was taken outside a supermarket in Sheldon.

Three men attacked the driver before they drove away with his Audi A3 S Line outside the Tesco store on Coventry Road in Sheldon.

The victim, a 61-year-old man from Olton who did not wish to be named, told us: “The attack took place at 8.30pm in the car park of the Tesco in Sheldon. I was attacked from behind by three men. There was a struggle and I was forced to the floor.

“My key flew out of my hand and they were saying ‘grab the keys’. Then they got to my car. They were in a Volkswagen Golf, the cars then escaped over the pavement up the A45.

“Luckily I escaped with cuts and bruises but for the sake of others they need to brought to justice.”

Other incidents have been reported in the same car park this year.

A spokesperson for West Midlands police said: “Police are investigating a carjacking in Tesco car park on Coventry Road, Sheldon just after 8.30pm on Thursday 17 October.

“A man parked his black Audi A3 and was heading to the store entrance when he was attacked by a group of men who threw him to the floor and kicked him.

“Fortunately, he only sustained bruises, but they did manage to take his keys and make off with his car, as well as in a getaway car, believed to be a Volkswagen Golf.
