A SCHOOL in Solihull held a careers event for students in Years 9, 10 and 11 at the school ahead of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Global Entrepreneurship Week runs from the 13th to the 19th of November and it is the world’s largest entrepreneurship festival, celebrated in 180 countries.

Ninestiles held their annual careers futures fair this month which was well attended by delegates, students and parents.

The aim of the event was to give students and parents an insight into the wide range of opportunities, courses, apprenticeships, jobs, volunteering and career pathways available after Year 11.

A huge selection of Post 16 education providers attended the fair including Birmingham Newman University, Halesowen College, Solihull College & University Centre, Solihull School, University College Birmingham and the University of Birmingham among others.

Local and national businesses and organisations were also well represented with contractor Midgard, Medical Mavericks, the JRL construction group, Vinci Construction and Birmingham Electrical Training sending employees along.

Public sector bodies such as the Department for Work and Pensions, the British Army and the NHS were also in attendance.

Mr Alex Hughes, Principal at Ninestiles, An Academy said: “I am delighted that our Careers Futures Fair was so successful, it was great to have such a range of educational providers come along and also so many brilliant local businesses.

“It’s never too early for young people to start planning their future and I am looking forward to working more closely with EPIC to develop some budding entrepreneurs.”
