SOLIHULL Hospital staged celebrations to mark the 70th anniversary of the NHS.

Staff at the Hospital in Lode Lane, Solihull, threw ‘Big NHS 7 Tea parties’ to mark the milestone.

Staff and patients alike enjoyed a slice of cake and a cup of tea as events were hosted across the hospital with many people feeling indebted to the great British institution for the care it has provided since its creation on July 5, 1948.

Samantha Howell, fundraising manager at Solihull Hospital Charity, said: “On behalf of Solihull Hospital Charity I would like to thank everyone who baked, brewed and served the cakes and the tea at the Big NHS 7Tea parties across Solihull Hospital.

“It was a special day to be a part of, and the money that has been raised will help Solihull Hospital Charity continue to provide added extras for staff, patients and their families across the hospital.

“The NHS is so important to all of us, and it was fantastic to see so many people coming together in celebration of this landmark birthday.”
