Solihull girls football team gets cash injection

TWO SOLIHULL girls football teams have been decked out in all new kits after new sponsorship.

Clover HR has partnered with the Under-10 Tornadoes and Under-11 Panthers, from Leafield Athletic Ladies Football Club.

Leafield Athletic Ladies Football Club has long been at the forefront of developing young female talent.

Its players have gone on to represent clubs at higher levels, inspired by the rapid rise of women’s football across England since the Lionesses’ historic Euros victory in 2022 and their World Cup run in 2023.

Clover HR said the partnership is about more than football,

Michael Doolin, CEO of Clover HR, said: “Women’s football has truly come of age, and now we need to invest in bringing up the next Lionesses.

“Supporting grassroots girls’ football is vital if we want to ensure the future of the game continues to thrive.

“Sport has an incredible power to teach confidence, resilience, and teamwork, all qualities that translate into success in life and work. We’re passionate about helping these girls believe in themselves and their potential.”

Unlike many mixed or male-affiliated clubs, Leafield’s female-only teams operate independently, relying heavily on grants, fundraising initiatives, and sponsorships from local businesses to cover annual running costs of over £100,000 per season.

These funds are essential for providing safe facilities, qualified coaching, and access to competitive opportunities that nurture talent and confidence.

Coach Dan Barber added: “Our mission has always been to create an inclusive environment where girls can develop not just as footballers, but as people.

“The generous partnership from Clover HR represents a meaningful investment in the future of these young players, empowering them through teamwork, resilience, and opportunity.”
