SOLIHULL’S firefighters are calling on kind-hearted residents to donate food to help families this winter.
The items donated will be handed to three food banks – Helping Hands at the Christian Renewal Centre, Kingfisher Food bank and Stetchfood food bank – to support those who are being hit by the cost of living crisis.
Firefighter Matt Geoghegan has organised this year’s collection.
He said: “Each year we do something different, previously we have collected for animal and homeless charities.
“This year we wanted to give something back to the local Solihull community and after hearing stocks are running low as more and more people are using food banks because of the cost of living crisis we decided we would do a donation drive to help them out.
“Previously people have been very generous and we hope, even though times are tough for everyone, people can donate where they can.”
Donations should be dropped at the front right hand side of the fire station on Streetsbrook Road in Solihull by December 20.
