A DEDICATED employee from Solihull has retired 40 years after first joining a family-run opticians.
Nina Parmar, 69, first joined Scrivens’ optical laboratory Mersona Ltd in Halesowen, in 1979 before taking a seven year break in 1987 to look after her two sons.
She was persuaded to return in 1994 and has clocked up a further 25 years unbroken service, focusing on quality control.
Nina said: “I have made many friends over the years working at Scrivens, which is like an extended family to me.
“I have enjoyed my time here, but I am looking forward to having time to travel and pursue my hobbies of cooking and knitting.
“I don’t like to stay still, so I hope to volunteer for a charity, working with the elderly.”
Following her retirement, Nina has planned well earned holidays in Devon and Dubai later in the year.
Mark Georgevic, a director of Scrivens and grandson of the founder, Solomon Scriven, said: “Nina has been a loyal employee and her attention to detail has contributed much to our reputation for delivering the highest quality lenses for our customers.
“We wish her a long and happy retirement.”
Scrivens Opticians and Hearing Care was established in 1938 and is celebrating its 80th year this year.
