Solihull electrician to fulfil London Marathon dream after stunning weight loss

A SOLIHULL electrician is set to fulfil his life-long dream of running the London Marathon next month after shedding five stone.

Dann Sullivan is set to line up with thousands of others at the start line in the capital just over two years after he was told he was medically obese and putting his life at risk by a nurse.

The 31-year-old lost 5st 2lbs going from 16st 12lbs to 11st 10lbs, losing eight inches from his waist and will be tackling the 26.2-mile long course with a team of 10 others as part of a Slimming World team on April 28.

They will be raising funds for Cancer Research UK and the Irish Cancer Society.

In October Dann took on the Great Birmingham Run – a half marathon around the city.

The dad-of-two said: “I can’t believe I’m running my second marathon after weighing 16st and struggling so much physically.

“I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t overweight and to have gone from being so inactive to so active is incredible.

“I’ve really found a love for running and to be running the big one this year – especially in Slimming World’s golden birthday year – is a real dream come true.

“I can’t wait for the atmosphere on race day and to cross that finish line.

“Achieving this dream would never have been possible before losing weight. I’m excited to give something back and raise money for Cancer Research UK and the Irish Cancer Society.”

He said he used to struggle physically with his job as an electrician and he’d regularly get home tired and in pain.

Since losing weight his life has transformed, he says he now has so much more energy to play with his children and he feels he has so much more energy in his job.
