SEWERS in Solihull took their place in Coventry City of Culture 2021 with a creative workshop.

Solihull Creative Textiles members were tasked with responding to the Methodist Modern Art Collection hanging in the Balsall Common Methodist Church as part of the event.

Any textile medium could be used, and members set to work hand stitching, free machining, printing and painting fabric, layering and needle felting.

Their inspiration came from the art collection as well as personal and world events current at the time.

The finished works were put on display at Balsall Common Church in time for their Harvest Festival when they could be viewed by the public.

The textile art created at Balsall Common, along with many pieces of work created since 2020 will be on display at the Courtyard Gallery, The Core in Touchwood from November 10 to 22.

The exhibition is free to view during library opening times and members of the group will be there most days between 10am and 4pm.
