A CONSERVATIVE Councillor has crossed the Council chamber to join Reform UK.

Councillor Prish Sharma, who has represented Shirley West ward since his election in 2024, has joined newly formed group at the authority.

The announcement came just one day before the ruling Conservative party presented its budget at the full council meeting.

Coun Sharma believes only Nigel Farage’s party has the real answers to the biggest challenges facing the local Solihull community and the wider country.

Reform UK Group leader on Solihull Council, Coun Michael Gough, said: “May 7 is not just about securing a majority in Solihull — which is an essential step — but also about building a team with vision and the ability to elevate our communities far beyond the political stagnation that has left us all frustrated.”

This latest addition means there are four Reform UK Councillors sitting alongside 28 Conservatives, eight Green Party eight Liberal Democrats, three Independent Councillors and one Labour member.
