Solihull Council to hold drop in events for Home Upgrade Grant

Solihull Editorial 19th Jun, 2023   0

SOLIHULL residents who may be eligible for the Home Upgrade Grant are being urged to visit  one of the remaining home energy advice drop-in events to find out more.

The Home Upgrade Grant is targeted at off-gas properties which have a combined annual income of less than £31,000 and an energy performance rating (EPC) between D and G.

Those who pop in to an event can chat with the team, discuss their personal circumstances and find out how to take the next step.

The drop-in events are also a great opportunity to talk about energy efficiency home improvements more generally and learn about the Solihull Household Support Fund which can offer eligible residents support with energy bills, debt and heating.

The dates, times and locations for the remaining energy advice drop-in events are as follows:

  • Tuesday 20 June, 2 – 5pm, Olton Library
  • Tuesday 20 June, 5.30 – 7pm, The Pavilion, Meriden Sports Park
  • Wednesday 21 June, 4.30pm – 6.30pm, Catherine-De-Barnes Village Hall
  • Thursday 22 June, 4 – 6 pm, Knowle Library

Coun Andy Mackiewicz, cabinet portfolio holder for climate change and planning, said: “With the warm weather we’re experiencing, it may seem odd to think about energy and insulation right now.

“However, improving the energy efficiency of your home and upgrading your insulation can help you stay cool in these warm summer months by keeping the heat out.

“At the same time, you’ll also be futureproofing your home for the winter when retaining heat becomes the priority.

“The drop-in energy events have been a success so far and I encourage anyone to attend and find out more. The Home Upgrade Grant is a great scheme for eligible residents with off-gas homes to benefit from free and subsidised energy efficiency measures.”
