Solihull Council reveal when residents can expect £150 rebate

Solihull Editorial 5th Apr, 2022   0

SOLIHULL Council has revealed when residents could expect to get their £150 energy bill rebate.

In February, the government announced that all households in England whose primary residence is in council tax bands A to D would be entitled to a one-off payment to help with the rising cost of energy bills.

Now Solihull Council has said anyone who make Council Tax payments by direct debit on April 1 can expect to get their payment during the week commencing April 11.

Those who pay by direct debit can expect the rebate to appear in their bank accounts during the week commencing April 25.

The Council said anyone who does not pay Council Tax by direct debit, or have recently set up a direct debit for your Council Tax but payments will not begin in April will receive a letter by April 25 with details of how to apply online for your rebate.

Anyone who is unable to apply online, the letter will also detail how you can get in touch with the Council so it can assist with the application.

The Council added: “Once residents have applied, you can expect to receive your rebate directly into your bank account approximately 14 working days after application.”

Solihull Council said residents will still be eligible for the rebate if they receive 100 per cent Council Tax Reduction, the property is exempt because it is occupied by students or it is occupied only by a person under 18 or it is occupied by people who are severely mentally impaired or it is an annexe occupied by a dependant relative.

It added that houses in multiple occupation (HMO) do not qualify for this rebate.

The dates stated above may be subject to change.

Households not eligible for this scheme may still be eligible for the Discretionary Scheme, further details will be released on the Council’s website soon.
