SOLIHULL Council is again working with a number of national and local organisations to make sure Solihull residents get extra help this winter.
The Winter Warmth Helpline and emergency help provides support and advice for older people, those living with disabilities or long-term health conditions, carers and families with young children.
Act on Energy is also working with the council to provide households with help with fuel bills, prepayment meters and debt.
Coun Karen Grinsell, deputy leader for Solihull Council and cabinet member with responsibility for wellbeing, skills and inclusion, said: “We know there are a variety of things people may need advice and help with, including energy bills, food, or finances.
“We’re working with national and local organisations like Solihull Age UK, the Colebridge Trust, the Carers Trust to make sure people can get the help they need.
“Working together, we’ve pulled together lots of information, advice and support covering a huge range of topics which people can access via the Council’s online Here2Help pages.
“Key information is also available in a new booklet, which is being distributed across Solihull, and will be available for people to pick up at a range of locations across the borough including libraries and GP surgeries.
“My message is – don’t go it alone, we are here to help.”
Other initiatives again include the provision of Warm Spaces.
These are for all members of the community and offer places to go to enjoy the company of others and take part in a range of activities – ideal if you are feeling lonely. These are being run at all Solihull libraries.
