SERVICES at Solihull Community Housing have been drastically scaled back due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Solihull’s largest housing association said only ’emergency’ repairs would go ahead at homes.
All routine repairs are now cancelled.
Safety checks for asbestos, disease, gas safety and fire risks will continue.
SCH’s homelessness prevention team will still provide telephone assessments, but no personal visits will take place.
The association said its offices are now closed, as its staff work from home, but emergencies at properties will still be responded to.
Tenants who are struggling with rent payments are encouraged to look on SCH’s website for help.
Housing associations will not evict tenants who are affected by the virus and fall behind on rent payments, Kate Henderson said, of the National Housing Federation, which represents housing associations in England.
Garage lettings and bulky waste collections are also cancelled. Bidding for properties has been halted during the pandemic.
