SWIMMING pools in Solihull have been closed for the foreseeable future due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Solihull Council has said the leisure centres it manages – Tudor Grange and the North Solihull Sports Centre – are now closed.
The move comes after the government advised all gyms and such leisure facilities to close to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
A spokesperson for the council said: “In light of the current situation Solihull Council has implemented plans to close its leisure centres until further notice.
“This follows the Prime Minister’s announcement on March 20 that all gyms and leisure centres should close ‘as soon as is reasonably possible’.
“The government have stated that they will be reviewing and updating this guidance on a monthly basis.
“The council would like to thank operators Everyone Active for the steps they have already taken to implement social distancing measures at both leisure centres and will be supporting them in the temporary closure of the facilities.
“We recognise that both leisure centres play an important role in serving the community and helping local residents stay fit and well through physical activity.
