SOLIHULL residents have saved over £9million in the last reporting year thanks to Citizens Advice Solihull – according to reports.

Specialist advice and support has been offered to families across Solihull struggle to cope with the challenges of the rising cost-of-living.

Over a 12-month period, the charity supported residents with nearly 17,000 issues ranging from debt, housing and energy bills.

Citizens Advice Solihull said although Solihull is often seen as an affluent area, many families in the borough continue to experience real hardship, and they turn to them as a trusted, accessible service when they need help most.

The charity was able to increase income gains for residents who sought their advice by £3.3million, accumulate cost savings of £4.9million, and help write off debts and repayments worth £866,000.

Kerry Turner, chief executive of Citizens Advice Solihull, said: “This year has shown just how deeply our services touch the lives of local people and families.

“Our advice extends well beyond crisis support, we help people manage complex, often overwhelming situations, giving them stability, hope, and the chance for real change.

“The ongoing cost-of-living pressures mean more people are turning to us, highlighting the critical role our services play in the Solihull community.”

Saqib Bhatti, Meriden and Solihull East MP, said: “Citizens Advice Solihull is an invaluable service, helping local people in countless ways and strengthening our community through its wide-ranging projects.

“I regularly hear real-life stories about the positive impact the charity is having on the lives and futures of my constituents.

“The advice and support they provide is unmatched, and they have earned the trust of local people through a proven track record of transforming lives.”
