WOODS Farm sent out a sprinkling of festive cheer to London last Friday when they felled their 60ft Christmas Tree ready to feature in Covent Garden.

The 40-year-old fir tree was felled and wrapped ready to become Covent Gardens’ tallest handpicked Christmas Tree, and it will be switched on for the holidays on Tuesday (November 8).

This particular tree was chosen primarily for its height, with experts then looking into details including how well the branches might be able to support the decorations.

This year, London firm Sculptivate will be decorating the tree with 200 baubles and 30,000 lights.

This is the twelfth year Covent Garden has gone to Woods Farm for their signature tree, and the business also supplies families across the country as well as Downing Street, Windsor Castle and football clubs.

Woods Farm owner Geoff Gilbert said: “We always try to bring the best tree we can with Covent Garden, our trees are purpose growth and the installers recognise that by coming back to us every year.

“Things are always special this time of the year, we get children coming up to us saying they have fond memories of our trees with makes this worth it.

“The felling of the Covent Garden tree is a fantastic way to kick start the festive season and even after all these years I still get a buzz”.
