Solihull charity store celebrates a decade of funding lifesaving missions for children

THE Children’s Air Ambulance (TCAA) store in Solihull is celebrating 10 years of helping to fund the lifesaving service for critically ill babies and children across the UK.

The store opened its doors near the Touchwood Shopping Centre on January 12 2013, selling both high-quality new and pre-loved items.

Over the last decade, the hardworking store team have generated £1,119,059.92 worth of sales for the charity, funding more than 300 vital missions and continuing to help save young lives across the country.

The charity store has received 16,020 bags of donated goods, which have provided vital income for the charity, but it continues to require the support of the local community for further donations of new and preloved items.

The Children’s Air Ambulance is changing the face of paediatric and neonatal care through the high-speed transfer of critically ill babies and children – flying them from one hospital to another for specialist care via the clinically designed helicopters which provide a flying intensive care unit for babies and children.

The lifesaving service gives babies and children the very best chance of survival and recovery, so funding from stores like the Solihull charity store is essential.

Solihull’s store manager, Luke Evans said: “We would like to say a big thank you to the local community for all the support they have shown over the past decade.

“We receive no government funding and together with your support we are ensuring that the Children’s Air Ambulance can continue to support critically ill babies and children across the UK.”

The charity is celebrating its 10th anniversary of lifesaving high-speed transfers in 2023.

To help mark the momentous milestone the charity is asking for supporters to send in any photos, footage or clippings, or share their stories to help showcase how well the children’s service has developed over the years into the pioneering transfer service it is today.
