A SOLIHULL charity has been handed a generous donation following a year of fundraising at a law firm.

Sydney Mitchell. which has an office in Shirley, presented two cheques totalling £8,000 to The Solihull Carers Trust which supports 4,800 carers in Solihull, and Parenting Mental Health, which supports parents whose children have significant mental health issues, at a meet and greet event.

Last year the law firm chose to boost funds at the charities through various activities.

Brandon Scott-Omenka, chief executive of the Solihull Carers Trust said the funds would be utilised to provide much-needed respite for carers who are caring for a spouse, family member or friend facing end-of-life and severe dementia and had not had a break in several years.

He added it would be also used to provide vouchers for younger carers to provide a treat just for them.

Suzanne Alderson and Nikki Neale from Parent Mental Health said the funds will help keep their ‘Peer to Peer’ support community operational 24 hours a day.

Karen Moores, senior partner at Sydney Mitchell said; “Thank you to everyone for supporting and participating in our fundraising events and activities over the past year. We are planning many more future events, but we are pleased to present today £4,000 each to Solihull Carers Trust and Parenting Mental Health.”
