Solihull carers invited to event ahead of Carers Rights Day

Solihull Editorial 23rd Nov, 2021   0

CARERS are invited to an information event which highlights their rights and where to get support from in Solihull.

Carers Trust Solihull and Solihull Council have set up the event to coincide with Carers Rights Day on November 25 for those who look after a family member or friend.

The event being held between 4.30pm and 7pm on November 24 at Solihull Moors Football Club has been arranged to raise awareness of the needs of carers, ensure carers are aware of their rights and where to get help and support.

There are more than 27,000 carers across the borough, providing unpaid support to a family member or friend because of illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or addiction.

Brandon Scott-Omenka, chief executive of Carers Trust Solihull, said: “Representatives from Solihull Council will also join us to share their plans for developing carers’ support and would welcome local people’s views before things are finalised.

“Anyone unable to come along on the day can also participate in the event if they have access to a computer.”
