KIND-HEARTED employees at banking group have raised nearly £50,000 for Molly Ollys.

Over the past year workers at Paragon Banking Group’s headquarters have held a series of fundraising and sponsored events to boost funds for the bank’s chosen 2023-24 charity partner.

Employees smashed their £35,000 target by hitting £48,881 with highlights including The Big Paragon Quiz, which raised over £4,500, and Paragon’s annual Santa Dash.

Its main areas of work include fulfilling wishes by providing gifts to children, donating therapeutic ‘Olly the Brave’ books and soft toys and bespoke projects, such as funding a Paediatric Palliative Care Consultant and the furnishing of the Magnolia House palliative care facility at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Rachel Ollerenshaw, co-founder and fundraiser for Molly Ollys said: “Molly Ollys was delighted when Paragon chose us as its Charity of the Year, and what a year it has been. From the outset, all the team really wanted to get involved, and took time to understand in-depth how Molly Ollys supports children and their families facing very challenging circumstances.

“We cannot thank everyone at Paragon enough for their contributions that have enabled us to help so many children. A heartfelt thanks to every one of you. Amazing!”

Deborah Bateman, director of external relations and executive sponsor of the Charity Committee at Paragon, said: “Molly Ollys has been a fantastic charity to work with. Our people have enjoyed getting involved in a variety of fundraising events and challenges throughout the year, including a quiz night, sponsored head shave, hiking challenges and children’s Christmas party, as well as multiple samosa and cake sales and many more events. The work carried out by Molly Ollys is so valuable, supporting children with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

“Our next Charity of the Year is Guide Dogs, and we’re looking forward to the various fundraising events we have planned over the next year.”
