SOLIHULL Council has announced its rubbish and recycling collections for the festive period.

The festive period often sees disruptions to the collection timetables, especially with bank holidays falling on a weekday.

Here is a list of recycling and rubbish collection changes across Solihull:

Rubbish collections on Thursday, December 25 will now be on Saturday, December 27.

Recycling due on December 25, will be collected on Tuesday, December 23.

Rubbish collections on Friday, December 26, will be on Friday, January 2 – where extra bagged rubbish will be taken.

Recycling collection on December 26, will be on Wednesday, December 24.

Rubbish collections due on Thursday, January 1, will be on Thursday, January 8 – where extra bagged rubbish will be taken.

Recycling on January 1 will now be on Saturday, January 3.

There is no change to recycling collections on January 2.

The Council advises any extra rubbish should be placed in a tied black bag and left next to your black wheelie bin or purple sacks.

It said there’s no limit to the amount of recycling it will collect but any additional recycling should be placed in a suitable container such as an old black recycling box, a hessian bad, a jute bag, a clear plastic bag or a carrier bag.

Solihull Council said there are no changes to collections for Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday and they will continue as scheduled.

It added: “We may collect at different times over the holiday period due to the extra amounts of rubbish and recycling that we need to collect.

“Please ensure that your recycling and rubbish is out by 6am on the day of collection and wait until after 4pm to report a missed collection.”
