A SOLIHULL addiction service has been handed a top awards.
Solihull Integrated Addiction Service (SIAS) were crowned Team of the Month in a Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust initiative.
The team were praised for its outstanding compassion, partnership working and commitment to inclusion.
SIAS won the prestigious award for its Christmas Day event which catered for over 40 vulnerable and isolated people.
In addition to SIAS service users, others in need across Solihull, including those being supported by Solihull Housing and Homeless, were invited.
The team served a full Christmas lunch, gave presents to everyone who attended and played festive games. The SIAS minibus was also available for anyone with transport difficulties.
Mark Pemberton, service manager – recovery and engagement at SIAS, who organised the day said: “We are delighted to receive this award in recognition of our Christmas event which took place in the heart of our community and supported so many who may otherwise have faced a difficulty day. Thank you to all our volunteers who made it happen.”
SIAS provides support for anyone struggling with drugs or alcohol across the borough of Solihull, and many of its services are delivered by a Lived Experience Recovery Organisation (LERO), with some of the staff having achieved recovery through the support of SIAS.
If you or someone you know is struggling with alcohol or drugs, call the SIAS helpline on 0121 301 or visit www.sias-solihull.org.uk.
