NEVER take each other for granted, always see the funny side of things and never go to bed on an argument.
That is the secret to a happy marriage – according to Jeffrey and Valerie Hayes, who celebrate their Diamond Wedding Anniversary today (Thursday, August 6).
The couple, from Solihull, met when they were at school in Harborne at the tender age of 14.
And just five years later Jeffrey popped the question while they were on a cycle ride.
The happy couple got married when they were 19 at St Gregory’s Church in Edgbaston.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
Sixty happy years later the couple, both 79, celebrated their milestone anniversary with a party with friends and family, including their two children – Julie and Craig – and grandchildren Harry, Melissa and Thomas.
