STUDENTS at Solihull Sixth Form College jumped for joy this morning after receiving their A Level exam results.
The college is celebrating exam success after 530 students achieved high grades at advanced level – A*-C at A Level or BTEC Merit or above.
Among these students, 194 obtained at least three or more A/A* grades at A Level or Distinction/Distinction* grades at BTEC level.
In addition, the college produced a 100% success rate in 25 advanced level subjects.
College principal Martin Sullivan was delighted with the result and offered his congratulations to students and staff.
He said: “A lot of hard work goes into achieving these outstanding results.
“In particular, the number of students getting A* and Distinction* grades is very impressive.
“They are among the best students in the country and can look forward to progressing to some of the top universities in the country on a range of highly competitive courses.”
The majority of students at the college will progress to university to study a wide variety of subjects from law, medicine, architecture, and engineering.
Seven students confirmed their place at Oxbridge, something which Martin Sullivan was especially pleased to see.
“Even making an Oxbridge application is a challenging thing to do,” said Mr Sullivan.
“These students have been pitting themselves against some of the top minds not only in the UK, but from around the world.
“To get an offer is an achievement in itself, but they then faced the pressure of achieving the required grades.
“I’m delighted that these seven students have been rewarded with the grades they deserve.”
