A SOLIHULL football team are celebrating after winning the British Colleges West Midlands League for the second year running.

The First team squad from The Sixth Form College were declared champions following a superb season – in which they lost only one game, and saw them topping the leaderboard with 14 points clear of their closest opponents.

Mat Dight kept his title as the team’s top goal scorer this season, with 19 goals, while in defense, team captain Luke Smith, team-mate Ben Jackson, and goalkeeper Mike Plimmer let just 12 goals slip through their grasp all season.

At the heart of the midfield, Nathaniel Percival, Nic Fletcher and Nathan Collett were described as ‘outstanding’ and praised for their hard work.

The boys’ efforts have been rewarded with county call-ups for Mike Plimmer, Mat Dight and Nathaniel Percival.

Lee Jones, Curriculum Leader for Sport at the College, congratulated the group of boys and said: “Well done to everyone on this outstanding achievement

“Winning the league two years in a row is something to be very proud of and it sets the bar very high for the players that come in next season.”
