SIX men have been charged after an string of robberies and thefts in the West Midlands area.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “The charges relate to the theft of seven ATM machines in the West Midlands area, as well as two cash-in-transit robberies and eleven motor vehicle thefts.”
They include the ATM machine at Nationwide building society in Stratford Road, Shirley, on May 21 this year, in which two police officers were injured.
“The following men have all been charged with conspiracy to steal, as well as other offences:
· Larry Barnett, 33, of Greenhough Road, Lichfield, Staffordshire.
· Lee Barnett, 32, of Wheldrake Avenue, Shard End, Birmingham.
· Michael Dunleavy, 37, of Needless End Lane, Balsall Common, Coventry.
· Oliver Higgins, 32, of Packhorse Lane, Kings Norton, Birmingham.
· Shaun Bates, 25, of Sylvan Grove, Shirley, Solihull.
· Steve Ives, 39, of Chingford Road, Kingstanding, Birmingham.
“All six previously appeared at court where they were remanded to appear at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday 6 September for a pre-trial plea hearing.”
