SHIRLEY is revving up ahead of its first ever grand prix.
Replica Formula One cars will be whizzing around Shirley Park from 11am on Saturday, May 28.
CarExamer West Midlands F1 Grand Prix Championship will be hosting the event, which has been organised by Friends of Shirley Park and Elmdon Park Support Group, and will see remote controlled cars, capable of doing up to 20mph zooming around a track.
The free competition is for children aged between seven and 13 years old who are avid racers or for those who will want to give it a go.
The main race will be held at 1.30pm and in the morning there will be a number of qualifying races.
Anyone who wants to bring their own car can give it a go on the track between 2pm and 4pm – no booking is required for this part.
For younger children there will be a separate area for them to try smaller cars between 11am and 4pm.
