Shirley Lions boost garden area

Solihull Editorial 12th Jun, 2015 Updated: 21st Oct, 2016

SHIRLEY Lions were welcome visitors to the Green Lane Special Needs Playgroup on Thursday when Lions President Ken Barker handed over a cheque for £1,000 towards the cost of recently installed soft landing material on the centre’s garden area.

The playgroup, run by Solihull Children’s Special Needs Association, offers unique individual care to pre-school children with a range of disabilities.

The Association’s Chair, Jo Brown said: “We are sincerely grateful to Shirley Lions for this most generous gift.

“The specially designed surface will avoid our volunteers having to wait for the grass to dry before taking children outside to play and will really extend the range of our activities.”

To find out more about the playgroup – either with a view to enrolling a child  or to enquire about volunteering – contact manager Carmel Ward on 0121 430 3811, secretary Beryl Glanfield on 01564 779635, or visit the website: www.scsna.org.uk.
