A SOLIHULL carer has been handed a top award for her efforts bringing communities together during the pandemic.
Lorraine Shannon at Fountains care home in Shirley, has been crowned with the Community Engagement Award for the Central Division in the Barchester Care Awards 2021 and is through to the national round of judging.
Through her work at the Stratford Road care home Lorraine has collected crisp packets to make lightweight weatherproof sleeping bags for the homeless and helped out with Shirley Lions and Age UK Solihull in a bid to combat loneliness in the borough.
Lorraine said: “I was extremely proud to learn that I had been nominated -to be crowned the winner for the Central Division is amazing news.”
As the winner for the Central Division, Lorraine Shannon is through to the national finals in which the overall winner is decided.
She will join winners from across the UK at a special awards event in October to celebrate their outstanding achievements and discover if they have won a national award.
