A SHIRLEY care home has joined forces with a youth-led charitable initiative dedicated to environmental protection and poverty reduction.

Fountain Care Home is set to become an official collection point for We Can CIC, which recycles aluminium cans and uses the proceeds to buy donations for food banks in Solihull.

Fountains Care Home residents, staff, families, and the community can contribute their empty cans to support Ryan’s inspiring mission.

Zara Friend, manager at Fountain Care Home, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to support such a meaningful and inspiring cause. Ryan’s determination is truly admirable, and we are excited to play a role in expanding the reach and impact of We Can, CIC.”

Ryan Hulance was inspired to set up his philanthropic business, We Can, after seeing his parents hand over a bag of food to a family who were struggling to buy provisions.

In 2022 the 12-year-old found a recycling centre that buys empty cans and then he uses that money to buy items including baby formula with and donates them to the foodbank.
