SHIRLEY care home residents came together to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory over Japan (VJ) Day with a day of remembrance, creativity, and sweet treats.
Residents at Fountains Care Home watched the national tribute and designed military-inspired remembrance gnomes as a hands-on tribute to those who served.
Residents also got a ice creams decorated in red, white, and blue, adding a patriotic splash to the day.
Resident Betty said: “We had a great morning. It was lovely to have everybody around and just being together.
“And then when the ice cream van came, it was just brilliant. It really took me back to when I was a little girl and we used to be allowed to have a 99.”
