A SHELDON mum has been shortlisted for a national Tommy’s Award for the support she offered to others after she had a stillbirth.

Charnjit Turner has been nominated for the The Costa Inspirational Mum Award which recognises a mum who has gone through a difficult pregnancy journey and made it through to the other side.

The 31-year-old was put up for the award by husband Joe for her strength in overcoming a difficult journey to parenthood.

After dealing with the heart-breaking loss of their first baby being stillborn, Charnjit channelled her loss into helping other people going through similar journeys.

Joe said: “She helped others by writing three blogs about her story in order to give others hope.

“She also was helping a friend when she was going through a difficult pregnancy experience.

“I’m very proud of what she has managed to come through over the last 3 years.”

Charnjit and Joe have since gone on to have a baby, but Joe recalls the anxiety and emotional rollercoaster that they had to go through when they began trying again for a baby after the stillbirth of their first child.

Always thinking of others through her blog and helping her friends struggling with pregnancy when her own experience was so raw,

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on March 16 in London.

Now in its 23rd year, the Tommy’s Awards recognise heroes and families who’ve have been touched by pregnancy complications, or the loss of a baby.

Each year in the UK, one in four parents lose a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth and premature birth.

Every year, 60,000 babies are born prematurely.

The Tommy’s Awards is focussed on celebrating courage, strength and support.

It recognises such strength and kindness through other awards categories including Super Sibling, Little Champion, Doting Dad, Inspirational Mum, Inspirational Family, Healthcare Hero, Star Researcher, Mum’s Voice, Act of Kindness and Star Fundraiser.
