A SECOND Covid-19 community testing hub has been opened by Solihull council in Chelmsley Wood Shopping Centre, next to the bus interchange.
This follows the successful launch of its first hub in Solihull town centre earlier this month.
The Chelmsley Wood Hub opens this Saturday, May 29 and like its counterpart will be open seven days a week with the following opening hours:
Monday-Friday – 8am to 5.30pm
Saturday – 9.30am to 4.30pm
Sunday – 10am to 3.30pm
The hubs allow residents to get rapid Covid tests, either by taking one there and then (under 18s will need a parent or guardian with them) or by collecting a supply of tests to do at home.
The service is for people without Covid symptoms. No appointment is required – simply turn up during opening hours and speak to a member of staff who can guide people through the testing process.
If you have any symptoms, a PCR test must be booked there instead.
The council will also be visiting local retailers over the weekend to discuss the testing, encouraging staff and customers to visit the hub and test regularly.
The can be contacted on 07554 225531 during opening hours.
Ruth Tennant, Solihull’s director of public health said: “It’s great that we can now offer a convenient testing hub for people in the north of the borough.
“Having a hub here should mean people can make testing a part of their everyday routine, even if they have had one or more doses of the vaccine.
“Let’s keep doing the right thing for Solihull, so we can cautiously begin to enjoy more freedoms over the months ahead, by continuing to follow Public Health advice and by adding ‘getting a test’ to our shopping list!
“Remember if you have Covid symptoms please self-isolate immediately for 10 days and you must book a PCR test through the national booking system or by calling 119.
“If you need emotional, practical or financial support to help you self-isolate there is an array of support available to you, please check our Here2Help pages or call 0121 704 6793.”
