SOLIHULL school councillors paid a trip to Westminster to find out more about politics.
Pupils from Balsall Common Primary School Academy took their learning beyond the classroom with a trip to 10 Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament.
The visit gave the councillors a first-hand look at how democracy works in the UK, bringing key elements of the curriculum to life.
The councillors had a guided tour of Parliament, walked where the King and Queen enters, walked through the King’s robe room, experienced the House of Lords, learned about the role of government and saw where national decisions are made.
The school said: “The trip was a memorable and inspiring experience, which was supported by a valuable question and answer session with the Meriden and Solihull East MP, Saqib Bhatti, who helped pupils deepen their understanding of citizenship, leadership and their role in society.
“Visiting outside No. 10 Downing Street was a great experience where the councillors where able to connect their learning to a real and nationally significant place.
“This visit reflects our school’s commitment to enriching our curriculum through real-world learning experiences.”
