A SCHOOL cook has hung up her hat after 36 years at Cockshut Hill School.
Sandra Smyth has retired from her role in the school restaurant.
She joined the Yardley school in September 1989 and over the years has prepared and served meals to generations of learners, watching them grow from young children into adults.
The school said her consistent kindness and reliability have made her an integral and comforting part of daily school life for countless children.
Sandra said: “I have loved every moment of my time at Cockshut Hill. It has been a joy to serve meals to generations of children and watch them grow over the decades.
“Being part of their daily lives has meant so much to me, and I will always treasure those memories.”
To mark her retirement in February, the school presented Sandra with a bouquet of flowers, a box of chocolates, and a meal voucher so she can enjoy a well-deserved meal out.
Jody Clarke, school principal, said: “Sandra’s extraordinary dedication and warmth have touched the lives of so many learners and staff over the past 36 years.
“She has been a true constant in our school community, and we are immensely grateful for everything she has given us.
On behalf of everyone at Cockshut Hill, I wish Sandra a long, happy, and fulfilling retirement—she truly deserves it.”
