School choir hits the right note

MORE than 250,000 listeners were entertained by Solihull School’s Boys’ Choir when they were broadcast on BBC Radio 4 following a visit to St Emmanuel Church in Didsbury.

The choir performed pieces including ‘For the Beauty of the Earth’ by Andrew Carter and ‘Gloria’ by Peter Nardone for two programmes – one live, and one pre-recorded.

The services, which were themed around ‘God’s Kingdom’ and ‘God’s Bounty’, also saw the 25 boys, aged between nine and 14, perform an additional four hymns accompanied by fellow student Madeleine Browse on the flute.

Oliver Walker said: “I’m thrilled that our choir was once again selected to perform on BBC Radio 4 – and so early in the school year.

“As usual the pupils were a credit to Solihull, especially soloists Joshua Kermode, Jacques Barker, Benedict Barker and Aymbujan Srijothy.

“This is only the beginning of what promises to be an exciting choral music programme for 2015/16 and we look forward to sharing details of further performances.”
