Runners delight as Knowle Fun Run returns

Solihull Editorial 19th May, 2022   0

AFTER a two year wait, runners were finally under starters orders for the 37th Knowle Fun Run.

Serious runners, fun runners, mini runners and fancy dress runners all converged on Arden School for the charity fundraiser organised by Knowle & Dorridge Lions.

This year runners were asked to raise funds for much needed causes which have suffered during the pandemic.

Several charities joined the fun, while the Age UK Grannies, Gingerbread Men and Bananas were well supported all the way around.

Meriden MP, Saqib Bhatti sent the runners on their way and encouraging them all as they passed the start line.

Adrian Harris, the event lead said: “All the difficulties of the last two years have placed a strain on our income so we are really pleased that the Fun Run is back and supported so well by our local community.

“We owe a debt of gratitude to all the local people who assisted us on the day without whom all our many weeks of planning would have come to nought.

“It was a long day for the Lions and helpers and there were a lot of tired bodies on Sunday night but to see the smiles on the faces of the runners, families and friends made it all worthwhile.”
