VETERANS, their families and friends are being invited to a Solihull care home’s open days.

The Royal Star and Garter is set to open its doors and showcase its outstanding person-centred care on April 3 and 8.

The Monkspath Hall Road care home cares for veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia and welcomes anyone who has served in the UK Armed Forces, including Reservists and those who completed National Service.

During two open days, which run from 11am to 1pm the home will showcase the nursing and dementia care it provides for veterans and partners, alongside its Day Care and Lunch Clubs.

Day Care and Lunch Clubs are among newer services reaching out into the community which have also been launched at the Home.

The Solihull Home was rated Outstanding in all five tested domains, and among the best care homes in the country, in its last Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

Those attending the open days will be given a snapshot of everyday life at the Home, and the chance to speak to the home manager and other senior staff.

They will be offered a tour of the Home, which will include the in-house physiotherapy room and hair salon, gardens, activities rooms and lounges.

Visitors will also have the chance to join in with the planned activities, and chat to the residents.

Katie McCauley, home manager at Royal Star and Garter in Solihull, said: “We appreciate that looking for a care home can be daunting, but we’re hoping a visit to Royal Star and Garter will help ease those concerns.

“We pride ourselves on being a loving family and providing exceptional care to veterans and their partners. We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors to the Home to see the amazing facilities and activities we have to offer, and to answer any questions they may have.”

Anyone wishing to attend are asked to register interest online through Eventbrite, with places limited to three per booking.
