Rotarians raise cash for Knowle elderly lunch club

Solihull Editorial 30th Jan, 2020   0

MEMBERS of the Knowle Lunch Club, run by Age UK Solihull, welcomed Knowle and Dorridge Rotary chair Colin Winstone and a £260 cheque to cover the Christmas party.

The club, which meets at the Red Lion in Knowle every Wednesday at noon, has been running for about eight months and new members are always welcome.

Older people in Knowle meet with others, enjoy a hot meal and socialise in an informal atmosphere.

Lorraine Hart, Fundraising Manager at Age UK Solihull, said, “We are grateful that Rotary chose to support us by funding the Christmas lunch at the Red Lion for our clients, who really enjoyed their party.

“As a local charity, we look to link with local groups such as Rotary to help us fund our services and initiatives, which help 10,000 older people in the Solihull borough each year”.

All money raised will stay in Solihull to help Age UK Solihull offer advice, information and practical support to the older people in the borough through services including befriending, social clubs, gentle exercise classes and home support.

If you are interested in coming along to the Knowle Club, contact the Linking People Together team on 0121 704 7846.
