ROAD users are being advised to plan ahead if using the M40/M42 interchange south of Birmingham due to ongoing safety work.
The enhancements are being delivered as part of National Highways’ work to further improve safety on motorways and includes replacing the existing steel barrier with a stronger concrete one, installing new drainage and replacing central reservation lighting.
As the scheme progresses a number of lane and carriageway closures will need to be in place between now and December.
National Highways Project Sponsor Nick Wells said: “We’re making excellent progress against our spring 2024 completion date and have now reached the stage where we need to remove some of the barriers, construction equipment and signage.
“To do this safely, for road users and our staff, we’ll need to temporarily close some lanes and carriageways until early December.
“We’ll minimise disruption by doing this at night when traffic flows are lower, but we still advise road users to plan ahead and check their routes before travelling, especially with other infrastructure schemes taking place in the area.”
Closures will usually take place between 9pm and 6am.
