Retired school teacher looks back with pupils at reunion

A RETIRED school teacher was invited to join his former pupils and staff members for a reunion.

Ronald Peck, who lives at Ardenlea Court Bupa Care Home in Solihull, was handed the invite from ex-Tile Cross Academy pupils Nigel Williams and Malcom Bennett.

They were eager to catch up with their old art teacher and reminisce about their school days.

Ron was a teacher at the Birmingham school for 30 years.

The 84-year-old said: “I was over the moon to receive an invitation from my ex-pupils.

“I had a lovely evening sharing and reminiscing about different stories from my time as a teacher.

“I even got to see my old classroom which brought back even more happy and fond memories of mine.”

Ron’s advice for teachers is to have lots of tolerance towards your pupils and work through their worries or concerns with them.

He also said talking with pupils to build up trust and support is also key, so they know you are always there if they need something.

Martina and Nirmal activity co-ordinators at Ardenlea Court, said: “We had a lovely afternoon with Ron at the school reunion.

“He lit up talking to old pupils and colleagues.

“It was lovely to see him sharing stories and really be filled with such enthusiasm.”
