Restoring the picture

SOLIHULL’S Poppy Path in Hillfield Park has been given a fresh lick of paint after it was defaced with graffiti.

The graffiti, with the tag Noise, appeared on the artwork created by local veterans, members of the Royal British Legion and schoolchildren.

However, thanks to Art From A&Km and some Solihull residents the Poppy Path has been repainted and restored to its former glory.

Alexander Mahrra from Art From A&K said: “When graffiti defaced this meaningful mural, it not only marred its visual appeal but also disrespected the collective effort and sentiment it embodied.

“By repainting over the graffiti, Art From A&K reaffirmed the community’s commitment to honoring service members and preserving a space that symbolises unity, remembrance, and pride.

“This act ensured that the mural continues to serve as a beacon of gratitude and a reminder of the sacrifices made by our Armed Forces.”

Art From A&K were commissioned by Solihull Council, Veolia and the Royal British Legion to paint the mural.

A spokesperson for Solihull Council said: “We were appalled to see that our mural by Hillfield Park had been vandalised, particularly as so many members of the local community had been involved in its creation.

“We are extremely grateful to Art from A&K for stepping in and returning the mural to its original condition.

“Residents can help by reporting graffiti on council property and land here.”
