Residents invited to have say on polling arrangements in Solihull

Sarah Mason 7th Apr, 2025   0

SILHILLIANS are being invited to have their say on polling arrangements in the borough.

Solihull Council is reviewing all polling districts and places used at elections in the borough, as is required under the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013.

Polling districts are areas within an electoral ward or parliamentary constituency, while polling places are where polling stations are located.

The review will consider the existing arrangements against the new Solihull ward boundaries, which were announced by the Local Government Boundary Commission last month.

It aims to ensure electors have reasonable and practical facilities for voting and that polling places are accessible to all.

The changing of any ward or parish council boundary is not considered in this review.

Residents can provide feedback on existing polling districts and places and are welcome to suggest alternative locations.

The Council is keen to receive representations from any electors in the borough, interested groups or organisations, particularly any individual or body representing persons in Solihull with any type of disability or need.

A paper consultation can be requested by email to [email protected] or by post to Electoral Services, Council House, Manor Square Solihull B91 3QB. Paper copies can also be requested from staff at Solihull libraries, or downloaded from here.

The consultation runs until May 13.

After the consultation closes, Solihull Council will consult again on draft recommendations and proposals for new polling districts, polling places and polling stations.

The Council says any changes will be implemented for the next scheduled local elections in Solihull in May 2026.
