Remembrance Sunday - residents urged to join online service

Solihull Editorial 7th Nov, 2020   0

RESIDENTS are being urged to join Solihull Council’s its online commemoration service in their homes this Remembrance Sunday, November 8, and on Armistice Day Wednesday, November 11, rather than gather at memorials across the borough.

The Council has pre-recorded the normal outdoor service in Solihull town centre, which will be made available on YouTube from 10.30am on Sunday at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aKt7qs47-G8&feature=youtu.be.

This will allow people to join in with the service and the two minutes’ silence safely in their own homes.

People should commence streaming the service from 10.55am on Sunday morning to join in the two minutes’ silence at 11am.

Those who would normally bring a wreath to place on the war memorial in Solihull, either on Remembrance Sunday or Armistice Day, are asked to observe strict social distancing in line with the new national lockdown rules.

They are also requested to bring their own cable ties or wire fixings to attach it securely to the wire loops around the memorial.
