Remember a loved one in February on Birmingham Dogs Home Tribute Tree

Solihull Editorial 8th Feb, 2022 Updated: 9th Feb, 2022   0

BIRMINGHAM Dogs Home is inviting dog lovers to pay tribute to beloved pets or loved ones during the month of love by engraving their name on their Tribute Tree.

Launched at the end of 2021, the tree contains 425 gold, silver and bronze leaves for individuals to honour both family members and their four-legged friends by writing a personalised message to mark Valentine’s Day on February 14 and Love Your Pet Day on February 20.

The engraved dedication leaf is designed to provide comfort to bereaved families where they can celebrate their dog’s life and companionship and the donations from the leaves will help feed the 150 residing at the charity’s two rescue centres and support them in finding their forever homes.

The leaf will remain on the tree for a minimum of 12 months, with the option to renew it again for another year or have it delivered home so owners can treasure it forever.

For those unable to make the journey to the charity’s Catherine-de-Barnes centre, the charity has created an online memorial page on its website so donations can be made in honour of beloved pets and dog lovers.

Fi Harrison, head of fundraising at Birmingham Dogs Home, says: “February is a time to spread love and celebrate those dearest to us and for thousands of households across the UK, this includes our cherished furry friends.

“Whether it’s remembering a lost loved one or celebrating someone special, adding a beautiful, engraved dedicated leaf to our Birmingham Dogs Home Tribute Tree is a lovely way to pay tribute.

“Plus, the money raised will help us better manage both emergency cases and the ongoing physical health of the 2,500 plus dogs we care for each year.

“This is particularly critical following the insurgence of dogs dumped at our rescue centres during December.”
